We, the BMW Group, offer you an interesting and various topic for a master thesis in the field of developing methods on shape optimization for multidisciplinary applications, in the context of Generative Design.

What awaits you?

• Conduct scientific research on state-of-the-art methods on multidisciplinary shape optimization.
• Collaborate with other researchers to solve optimization problems by proposing innovative solutions and transform them into efficient applications.
• Working in a modern software development environment to test and integrate Finite Element Analysis (FEA) code.

Please note that you must ensure that your thesis is supervised by a university.

What you should bring along?

• Master of Science in Computational Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related technical field.
• Excellent knowledge of Continuum Mechanics, FEA and Optimization theory.
• Excellent object-oriented programming skills in C++ and Python.
• Experience working with CAE software: Abaqus, LS-Dyna, OptiStruct or other.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Desired experience coding in Matlab.
• Desired experience in shape optimization and working with open-source FEA codes.
